Hello and welcome to my site. Thanks for looking around!
Below is a little bit of background information about myself.
I started my career as a Day Care Owner upon returning home from one year abroad in South Korea where I worked as an English Instructor. As a business owner, I dealt with every aspect of the business including obtaining/maintaining proper clearances, creating and implementing a pre-school curriculum, customer service and everything in between.
Upon completion of my BA in Graphic Design from Towson
University, I became a Graphic Designer for a local company in the
Marketing Department. My responsibilities included customizing sales support,
presentations, and direct mailings for over 400 individual companies. I am
highly proficient in the Adobe CS Suite— Photoshop, InDesign,
and Illustrator. I am also experienced in the current standard Graphic Design
software— including QuarkXpress and Microsoft Office. I have worked on both MAC
and PC platforms.
I am well accustomed to working in a fast-paced, deadline
driven environment. Multitasking and being meticulously detail orientated is an
integral part of my job, and has fast become a way of life. Additional skills
include the ability to take direction as well as work autonomously,
troubleshooting, web experience, ability to produce electronic and traditional
art, excellent photo-manipulation skills, ability to self proof-read as well as
interpret traditional proof-reader marks, and a solid knowledge of electronic
pre-press and the digital production process.
Most recently, I worked at Six Red Marbles (Formally
Monotype Composition, LLC.) —SRM is a fast paced, competitive educational book
company that works closely with clients such as McGraw-Hill, Harcourt, and
Houghton Mifflin to output text books in a variety of formats. My
responsibilities consisted of page building from written and visual specifications
primarily using InDesign. I created and corrected line art, illustrative art,
tables, graphs, etc; using Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and QuarkXPress. I
also color corrected and retouched photos, as well as previously maintained the
company’s intranet site. It was also my responsibility to act as Team Leader on
several projects, organize and pre-flight final files for press and trouble
shoot as needed. I frequently organized and maintained files according to
client specifications and transferred files via ftp. In addition, I am familiar
with VPN and K4 technology for the purpose of maintaining file integrity while
working off-site.
